Applications

Scotch® Tape 130C is a highly conformable tape that provides electrical and mechanical protection with the combination of an aggressive rubber resin adhesive and a self fusing, ethylene propylene backing. The tape provides primary insulation for solid, dielectric insulated cables rated through 69 kV. This tape is designed for low and high voltage, bus bar insulation, end sealing of cables and jacket repair applications. It has outstanding mechanical and electrical properties that offer moisture seal and void free buildups. Excellent physical and electrical properties can quickly fill the gap to play the role of moisture-proof seal. ASTM Approved and RoHS 2011/65/EU Compliant.

Method of application

When you are using the Scotch® Tape 130C, the tape is wrapped in a semi-overlapping fashion.  Sticky side up.  The tape should be stretched to three quarters of its original width.  At key points, stretch the tape really close to the breaking point.  Doing so does not change its physical and electrical properties.  In less critical areas, you don't need to stretch that long.  When 130C is wrapped on the cable joint above 15kv, it should be fully stretched throughout. the joint
